Canon Prima Zoom 85N

For a while I was looking for a compact camera that I could carry with myself wherever I go, so I could potentially capture interesting or beatiful moments in the otherwise dull everyday life. I was eying 110 cameras for a while but the smaller selection of available film emulsions and lack of local labs developing the format turned me off of that idea for the time. Rangefinders like the Canon 7 ($), Minolta CLE or Leica ($$$) models seemed enticing, but I decided to look for a more affordable option: an automatic compact point and shoot from the '90s. I bought this camera very randomly, but it ended up being much better in the image quality department than I expected. (It's a point and shoot with a zoom lens from the '90s after all.) So this was my EDC (Every Day Carry) camera for a while.

Though once I finished fixing up my Olympus Mju I ended up preferring that. Not only does it have better image quality, but it's also more compact.
The Canon also has a not-so-great-to-use dial on the top that turns the camera on and selects a mode. But the fact you use this dial to select flash mode also means you can turn the camera on and have it with the flash off immediately, unlike with many of its contemporaries where you have to remember to press a certain button 2 or 3 times every time you turn it on, so that's great.
But if you prefer having a zoom lens over better image quality I think these Canon point and shoots are still great and quiet overlooked options that you can probably find for a pretty good price.
