Minolta MD Tele Rokkor 135mm f/3.5

I got this telephoto lens so I could have access to a longer focal length without lugging the 75-200mm zoom around with me.
Though I wish it was the f/2.8 variant, this is more compact, which is a pretty important consideration as this is a candidate to be part of my trifecta of lenses I carry around with me on a normal photo walk.
The widest aperture of f/3.5 is not too bad, however the softness and especially the chromatic aberation is just too much wide open so for most subjects (outside of portraits) I don't think it's really usable wide open.
However the long focus throw that allows precise focusing, the built-in metal lens hood and overall build quality make it a joy to use, no complaints there.

So is this THE telephoto lens I'll have on me all the time for eternity? Probably not.
135mm just feels a bit too tight for most usecases where I need just a bit more reach. I'm considering getting the 75-150mm f/4. It's a bit slower and less wieldy sure, but it's much more versatile and is supposed to be stupidly sharp at all apertures and focal lengths.
